Stop Signs I wanted stop signs for my Winter Layout, so I found a picture of a stop sign on the Internet, set it's resolution to 600 dot-per-inch, and resized it to 0.136 inches with Photoshop. This corresponds to about 30 inches in Z scale, which is the size that a stop sign is supposed to be at one Internet site. I made three copies of the stop sign, for a total of four signs. A copy of the picture is at the right, in case you need one. Then I tried printing them out on glossy photo paper with my Canon BJC-4550 printer and PhotoColor Cartridge. But the "STOP" letters were barely visible - not because they were so small, but because they seemed to contain some of the red color from the sign. Apparently the resolution of my Canon printer is only 300 dpi. I reprinted the stop signs with my 600 dpi Hewlett Packard Deskjet 5650 printer at school and the signs came out beautifully. I cut the head off of four straight pins and glued each to the back of one of the signs with a drop of Maxi-Cure. I then inserted each between the street and the sidewalk each way at the intersection. |
